What’s included in a Berkshire Camino Multi-Day Hiking Journey:

  • Hiking guide(s), local transportation,* lodging, baggage transfer, many of the meals, an opening wine/beer and cheese/veg reception on arrival day and a closing dinner reception on the final night are included in the Multi-Day Hiking Journeys.

    • We encourage you to let this experience be an experiment in minimalism. Carry just a daypack while you hike. Berkshire Camino will transfer your baggage as you progress from one lodging place to the next.

    • If you don’t have a suitable daypack or hiking poles for the journey let us know - we have some equipment available to borrow as a value add to your experience.

  • Routes: Curated routes including conservation land and trails, footpaths, country roads and sidewalks connecting towns. A highlight of the Central/Northern Berkshires Woodland section is the High Road - Yokun Ridge.

  • Hiking Guides: There is no guidebook! Our crew of guides will show you the way, facilitate an experience that is both contemplative, informative and engaging as well as to provide for your safety and comfort. Crew members are First Aid and CPR certified.

  • Local Transportation: The Berkshire Camino van shuttles you from lodging places to trailheads and back to lodging when the hiking route does not end at the doorstep of where you will sleep. We also provide transport some evenings for dinner. Berkshire Camino’s van is on stand-by in the event the weather prompts an early pick-up or a guest has reached their limit for the day. (Handled on an individual basis.)

    • If coming in your own vehicle there will be a designated parking lot where you will park for the duration of the event. Berkshire Camino will pick you up at the lot and handle all of the local transportation. This allows you to commit to the journey that it is intended to be. If you really need to get to your vehicle, arrangements can be made.

    • * Guests who are traveling to the Berkshires via air, train or bus, please contact us to arrange for a ride to the Berkshires for an additional fee.

  • Lodging: We are partnering with local lodging establishments exclusively! These unique destinations are a treat unto themselves and have been curated with as much intention as the hiking routes. We’ve chosen superior level accommodations and amenities that feature room aesthetic and bed comfort. Trail proximity and fun things to do on-property have been considered in curating the portfolio of lodging partners. Above all else we choose places that are safe and clean. View the sample itineraries for the Southern and Central/Northern journeys to learn more about the lodging places. Please note that lodging locations are subject to change because we pre-negotiate rates for a blocks of rooms and those holds are released about 7 weeks prior to the event. In the event that we need to substitute a lodging location, we stay within the same vicinity and level of accommodations.

  • Meals: Most, but not all meals are included. We will specify which meals are included when you call to book since it varies by journey. More meals are included with the Northern journeys. We’ve designed it this way to give you a few more options such as opting for some private time or to spend time with new Berkshire Camino friends. When staying in a town/city center and restaurants are easily accessed on foot, we’ve designated some breakfasts and dinners for you to be on your own. A few weeks prior to the event you will be asked to complete a Personal Information Form that will help us learn about your dietary (and any other) preferences. There will always be a vegetarian meal option available. Vegan options can be accommodated.

  • Distance: We hike about 26 miles on the Southern Berkshires Town-to-Town leg and about 30 on the Central/Northern Berkshires Woodland leg. The pace is intentionally slow to moderate as this is not a race to the finish line. The point is to slow down and welcome a sense of discovery. We stop to smell (many) roses along the way and give everyone time to hydrate and rest. We are happy to chat with you to help you decide how well suited you are for this event.

  • Group size: up to 7 guests - come solo or with companions. Corporate groups and family reunions are welcome to buy-out an event. Buy-outs may request additional spaces to accommodate the group size.

  • Cancellation policy: Should you need to cancel for any reason you will receive a 100% refund up to seven weeks prior to the start date of the event. If you cancel between five and seven weeks in advance you will a 50% refund. No refunds are issued less than five weeks in advance of the start date. However, you may defer your reservation and monies paid to an event occurring later in the same calendar year.
